On November 13th I will be walking in the 2010 Los Angeles Walk with Us to Cure Lupus Walkathon. 100% of the donations go to Lupus research. As you might know I was diagnosed with Lupus 7 years ago. Tonight I received an email from my old church in Baltimore asking people to pray for Kyleigh, a 12 year old girl, who has just been diagnosed. It sucks having to ask people for money during these hard financial times but hearing a story like this makes me more determined than ever to do what I have to do to help find a cure for not only me but this little girl and all of my friends with lupus that I have met. I have 463 followers on Tumblr. If each of you gave $1-$5 it would make such a difference. Please visit my fundraising page and help me Change Lupus. Please reblog in case any of your followers have or know someone who has lupus. Thanks so much.
Read Kyleigh’s story below.
Kim Norman’s 12 year old daughter Kyleigh was taken by ambulence from her school this morning when her blood pressure went down to 70/43, with increased heart rate and dehydration, and decreased breath sounds. After spending time at Carroll County General, she is being transported from Carroll to University of MD. Her medical problems have been a mystery for a while, and it turns out three of the major tests for Lupus have come back positive. She will be seeing a pediatric rheumatoligist at UMD who can hopefully give her the help she needs.
I’m going to this tonight. I went last year and it was amazing. There are 3 different plays and this year it takes place at the Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery in Altadena, CA. You don’t sit and watch these plays, you follow the actors to different areas and you are fully immersed in the play cause it is happening all around you.
She was looking at my labs and my white blood cell count is considerably low. Last time it was 3.7 now it’s 2.38. So my lupus is active and the antibodies are attacking my white blood cells. If I get a fever I have to see her right away. In 3 weeks I’m going back in to test my blood again to see if it’s any better. fantastic.
…one of the cats that lives here and wanders around outside all of the time was crying at my door wanting to be let out of the building. Hearing it meow woke me up because I react the same way to a cat crying as a mother does to her child. And of course out of all of the doors it chooses mine…
…then my friend Katherine in Baltimore texts me saying she is about to leave for a wedding and should she wear black or navy. I said navy cause it’s in right now and she’s a reader at the wedding, if she wears black it might look like she’s reading a eulogy.
